Halfway There!!!

Yes, it is Wednesday and we are surviving without Norman! Not an easy task, mind you, but we are plugging along! I didn't realize how much I look forward to him getting home in the evenings to help out after a long day of toddler wrangling! He may get a little more appreciation for what he helps with when he gets home!! :o)

Our week is going well. Monday we all took it easy and let Benjamin recover from his stomach bug. Yesterday was shopping day - Wal-Mart, the Wonder Bread Thrift Store, and Kroger, all in the same day! Yes, I was feeling very brave! The boys did fine (amazingly enough!)! I guess being home bound made them appreciate their opportunity to venture into the world again! We went to Grandpa and Grandma's yesterday evening for a visit, which the fellas all enjoyed, and they will head over there this afternoon for their regular Wednesday visit.

The rest of the week will be busy - Thomas' Boys Co-Op tomorrow, Electives Friday, an Easter Egg hunt at Meadow Farm on Saturday, and Kings Dominion opens this weekend, so of course, Thomas wants to be there to take full advantange of our season passes - a big time exciting gift Santa brought! Whew, I'm tired just thinking about it! Hope your day is as full and blessed!

This is going to be so strange!

Well, Norman left about a half hour ago to go to Roanoke for the week. He is part of a team auditing a facility there for the Department and while I am happy he was selected for this role, I am NOT so excited to be the one left here with the boys by myself for 5 days!! Especially since we are all just recovering from the cough, hack, fever mess! Benjamin was sick Saturday night and yesterday with some vile stomach throwing up nastiness, and I am praying that none of the rest of us get it!!

Saturday before Benjamin started with the stomach bug, we did go to our favorite park, Meadow Farm, to enjoy the playground. I leave you with some photos for your viewing pleasure!

Yes, he does look like he's up to something. He usually is!
Benjamin plays VERY seriously when he plays Fireman! Driving a fire truck is hard work!

My fellas! I am a lucky lady!

Sick of Being Sick

Uuugghhh!! I am REALLY tired of being sick. I was not feeling good last week, and was crashing out as soon as Norman got home from work. On Wednesday, Thomas left with our friends, the Wagners, for the 2007 East Coast HomeSchool SportsNet Basketball Championships for 4 days and I was still not feeling well. Friday, Benjamin, Max, and I drove up to Lynchburg for the day to see 2 of the 5 games Spirit Basketball played. I felt terrible, but we had a good time and got to see the guys win one and lose one game. We gave a friend's daughter a ride home, and when I called home to let Norman know our plans, he sounded HORRIBLE! He had been told to come home from work - which is saying A LOT as he rarely misses work for sickness.

By Saturday morning after my paper route, I was sure I was gravely ill and headed to the doctor. Well, diagnosis was bronchitis, possible/probable pnuemonia. Yuck, yuck, and double yuck. Thomas' tournament was over Saturday and he spent the day, night and most of Sunday with Grandma and Grandpa to avoid contamination. He seems to have escaped the funk, but is the only one!

Tuesday morning, when I arrived home from my paper route, Norman's exact words were "I have to got to the doctor first thing this morning." This from a man whose doctor's visits in the 15 years we have been married I could count on one hand. NOT a good sign. Off we went to Patient First. ( Quick aside - I am VERY impressed with their service. Norman was thoroughly examined, had a flu swab, full blood panel, xrays, diagnosis - bronchitis, possible/probable pnuemonia - prescriptions, and we were on our way in an HOUR!! Impressive!!) Norman came home, headed to bed and stayed there the day.

Benjamin and Max went to the doctor Tuesday afternoon - Benjamin nasty cough and nose, Max draining ears and throat issues. More Tylenol, more antibiotics, more co-pays....uggh!

I did feel better Tuesday afternoon, so ended up cleaning out the van and spent a bit of time outside with the boys, since it was 70 degrees, and their energy level has hardly been touched by this round of nastiness! Of course, yesterday, I paid the price and felt MUCH worse - spent most of the day resting and sleeping. Norman was better and took care of the littles. Today, he's tired and I'm better again! I'm going to take it slow, and hope we are on the tail end of this!

Today Thomas is getting together with some of the fellas from Electives to make up work missed last Friday due to the Tournament, and then going to Youth Group at church. I have a 4:00 doctor appointment. Tomorrow is Electives, and then the Spirit Basketball End of Season Banquet. Nothing much going on this weekend, but Norman leaves Monday for a work trip til Friday! It is going to be an interesting week!

Its going to be a long day....

Norman was home sick all day yesterday and the house is TRASHED! I planned on today being a clean-up and get it together day. Well, Benjamin got into the trash and got a hold of a empty Purell Hand Sanitizer container - the teeny tiny sized one - and was filling it up at the bathroom sink and drinking out of it.

I grabbed the Poison Control magnet and called to see if I needed to rush him off to the hospital. PC said no, he should be fine, give him something to eat and drink and all is well.

As I'm getting off the phone, I see Max chewing something...
in his hand is 3/4 of the Poison Control number magnet....the other 1/4, yep, in his mouth....2nd call to them to see if their magnet poses a poisoning hazard...

It's going to be a LONG day!!

Note added later - I was at Applebee's tonight and Norman called asking for the number to Posion Control. Yeah, Norman, ha ha, very funny. No, he says, Benjamin got into the record cleaner (record cleaner??!! WHY do we, excuse me, why does Norman have record cleaner??We don't even OWN a record PLAYER!!! That's another story for another day...) Anyway, record cleaner also fairly benign, just have him drink lots of liquids....

Oh, and after much disussion with Benjamin, it was discovered that the bottles look like the bottles in Shrek 2 that hold "Potions" and he wanted to try the "potions". We told him we have NO potions in this house and he can only drink out of his cups!!

Blogger Slacker

The reasons I have not taken the time to post lately........

Yes, yes, yes I do realize I am a complete slacker with the whole blog thing. I truly feel so busy some days that there is no way to cram another activity into my day, let alone sitting quietly trying to compose some articulate thoughts about something other than diapers and fighting siblings and how in the world a 18 month old can climb up onto the dining room table without injury, but manages to bump his head EVERY TIME he tries to get off the couch!! These are the things that occupy much of my life these days! The wonderful thing about it all is that so many dear friends are knee deep in the middle of this time with me and LOVE talking about potty training and time outs and wanting more babies and being overwhelmed with the kids we have! It is a wonderful time, and I am SO blessed to share it with such fun, loving, understanding friends!
This weekend was busy, as they all are these days! Friday was the first day of Spring Electives and it was GREAT to see friends again and meet new people! The whole day went very well, though we missed the Kucskar family since they were sick! The kids had a great time, and it is so gratifying to see something you have poured your time and effort into come to fruition. We had a lot of fun and look forward to this Friday!
Saturday was a beautiful day! We headed to our favorite park, Meadow Farm, for the afternoon. Thomas brought his bike, and we all had a great time! We so love it there and are so lucky to have such a special park close to us! I worked Applebees Saturday night, delivered the paper Sunday, then headed to church. Thomas helped in the nursery, and I got to go to service! I took a short nap before Applebees Sunday evening, then came home and got Max to sleep in his own bed ALL NIGHT LONG!! Woo Hoo!! Life is Good! (It really is the little things, sometimes!)
Well, the day awaits! Schoolwork, house cleaning, Thomas has a foul shot contest tonight, it never ends!! I'm off!
